Review: Party for Pakistan sees Plan B, Ms. Dynamite and Killa Kella unite

Last night The O2 arena in Highbury and Islington was home to Party for Pakistan, where over 28 of the UK’s biggest artists united in force to help raise funds and awareness for millions of people who have been devastated by the floods in Pakistan.  Names such as Plan B, Riz MC, faceJacker, Killa Kella, Ms Dynamite, Nero, True Tiger and many more all played small yet feisty sets for this huge cause.

Party for Pakistan was an event coordinated by Anorak, Curious Generation, Riz Ahmed and Imran Jilan all who brought together a team of seriously talented artists, who donated prizes, time and efforts which will all be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

Envy kicked off the night and set a high standard to follow, the night was full of surprise collaborations and features from urban artists such as Akala jumping in and freestyling on Low Key’s set; Top Producer Naughty boy and Emeli Sande made an exclusive performance and unexpectedly, Miss Dynamite came along to support brother, Akala and played sharp set which whipped the crowd up into a storm, whilst FoneJacker and Riz MC announced the raffle winners in a live performance.

Plan B played an intimate acoustic set and Killa Kella delivered beautifully sculpted beats to complement the vibe. Radio 1 DJ Nihal and Bobby Friction also played sets and spoke about how brilliant it was to be involved with a unique and refreshing atmosphere at Party for Pakistan, something that each artist has discussed in their backstage interviews, so keep a look out.

Every single artist and organiser worked voluntarily and all of the money raised at Party for Pakistan goes directly to the area affected thanks to the Disasters Emergency Committee who delivers aid and care to those affected. The DEC represent 13 of the most respected humanitarian organisations who coordinate humanitarian relief throughout major disasters. With over 20 million people affected by the floods in Pakistan we hope that this event will encourage people to unite and to get involved wherever possible and donate what they can to the cause.
